A few minutes into our stroll, we came across a group of women on all fours digging and scouring for various types of clams.

Top five moments in Korea so far

We’ve been in Korea for just over a month so we thought it’s about time to share our top moments thus far.

Without further adieu, here are our top five moments in the land of kimchi, noraebang (karaoke), and soju, a kind of watered-down vodka everyone drinks like water, some of whom until the verge of passing out.

Uncoincidentally, soju and noraebang go together like bangers and mash.

Turkish Delight

We had little idea, other than hearing some good reviews from time to time, of what it would be like to fly with Turkish Airways. It was finally time to put those reviews to the test as Ez and I departed for Seoul, via Istanbul, with Turkey’s national carrier.

Food

“To truly experience a culture, you must taste it.”

Takoyaki is a Japanese snack in the shape of a little round balls, made of a wheat flour-based batter filled with diced Octopus (tako). Yaki is derived from “yaku” which is one of the cooking methods in Japanese cuisine, meaning “to fry or grill”.

Samgyeopsal is a Korean dish which consists of unseasoned/unmarinated pork belly meat cooked and eat directly from a grill. It is usually served with two sauces: ssamjang (K쌈장) and gireumjang (기름장) sauces, and various Banchan (반찬) accompaniments.

When the tides go out, Woongcheon Beach change into unending tidal flats. Large number of fresh clams dwell in these tidal flats making it possible for locals to dig them out of the soft mud using a spoon or with their barehands.
